REMAIN: a project for a more sustainable manufacturing industry

The REMAIN (Robotic REMAnufacturing of deformable INdustrial products) project aims to give a second life to manufactured goods, particularly in the footwear industry, in order to limit the waste generated by this sector. Financed by Interreg IET and co-financed by the European Union, it brings together nine partners from Spain, France and Portugal under the coordination of INESCOP.

The objective is to introduce remanufacturing into the business models of manufacturing companies, which often face high innovation costs. To this end, the project will develop fault detection tools and a multi-robot system capable of disassembling and preparing used products for re-integration into the production chain.

A pilot phase will be conducted in the footwear industry, before being extended to other sectors. This project will improve the competitiveness of SMEs, reduce their environmental footprint and promote innovation and employment in the regions concerned.

Project start date : 01/01/2024
Project end date :
31/12/2026
Project no :
S1/1.1/E0111

Project co-funded by the Interreg Sudoe Programme through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)..
